Dr. Burkhard Huegl faced an enormous task, when in 2008 he was charged with developing and leading the new EP department at Marienhaus Klinikum St. Elisabeth Neuwied in Germany. Having experience with the Stereotaxis system while at other hospitals in Germany, Dr. Huegl says he saw only one way to build a successful EP program and that was to leverage the capabilities of robotic magnetic navigation.

“With the Stereotaxis system, we are able to address all types of arrhythmias – even those not suitable for conventional ablation – safely and effectively,” says Dr. Huegl. “This includes not only typical flutters or AV-node-dependent dysrhythmias, but also complex arrhythmias, such as VT and AF.” High Density Mapping with Carto and Pentaray in combination with Stereotaxis is also very often used by Dr. Huegl and his team for complex arrhythmias.

Today, the EP department in Neuwied attracts patients from all across Germany, thanks to Dr. Huegl and his team’s proficiency with magnetic ablation!
